Brown Donkatsu - DOWNTOWN

Very generous portions! Flavour-wise, it was average, probably wouldn’t come back, but it was nice to try at least. I preferred the carbonara sauce over their signature one. Their spice level 1 has a decent kick, so keep that in mind if you don’t have a high spice tolerance.

If you've never tried Donkatsu, I highly recommend this cute restaurant. Amazing staff, fast service and the food was absolutely delicious. Come hungry because the portions are huge, wonderfully crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside, perfectly prepared. Oh and their beer are served in a frozen glass mug, perfect for those hot days.

Upon entering Downtown Brown Katsu, I noticed a slight restroom smell, which was a bit of a letdown. However, the staff were incredibly quick and efficient. While their speed was impressive, I did wonder if they were overworked. I wasn't a huge fan of the fact that the cups and plates were plastic. That was a small disappointment for me. On the bright side, they served the beer in a perfectly chilled glass, which was a nice touch. The best parts of the experience were definitely the food and the service. The pork in the cutlet wasn't super thick, but the portion size was generous and very filling. The breading was perfect—it didn't peel off and stayed crispy throughout the meal. The sauce was also great. Overall, the food was fantastic and the friendly service made for a very satisfying dining experience. Overall: Despite a few minor issues, Downtown Brown Katsu stands out for its amazing food and fast, kind service. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a delicious katsu meal.

Takeout review: food holds over quite well when travelling for delivery. They use containers that let out some steam so it doesn’t become mushy right away. Portions are good; you get good pieces of fried chicken, shrimp, fish, pork, etc. the signature brown sauce is also pretty addicting, with slight sweetness and spiciness.

I recently dined at a wonderful restaurant, and I wanted to share my positive experience. The service was incredibly swift, which I truly appreciated. The rice cakes were cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of spice. They really did deliver on the flavor profile as well. Moreover, the portion sizes were generous, leaving me feeling very satisfied. The food quantity was more than enough for a filling meal. It was also nice to see that the washrooms were impeccably clean. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would certainly visit again.

I tried the Carbonara Katsu from here and it was amazing. The sauce was so flavourful and creamy, and the chicken was incredibly crispy. The sides of corn, cabbage and rice are the perfect amount and the portion of the chicken is very big! The service was also very good, it was quite busy when I dined here and the waitresses were still very attentive. Constantly refilling our cups and asking how everything was. Overall it the food and service here are amazing. I want to come back!

This place is a must try for anyone craving Donkatsu. Both the cheese filled and classic versions were fantastic, crispy on outside and packed with flavour, with huge portions. The sauce has a sweet, fruity taste (from the tomatoes) that makes it both good as a spread and a dip. The corn cheese could've been sweeter and richer to match the excellence of the Donkatsu. Still, overall definitely worth a visit!

Every time we go somewhere that has 치즈 돈까스, it's a must-go for us. It's good, but it was really big, so it had too much cheese in it. I have to say the one we had in Richmond, BC, is better. Service here is good, people are very nice. Big portions. We only finished half of the plates. The window side seats are not very comfortable, a little dirty as well. Overall, it's good.
